The court heard from prosecutor Camila Toscano that the 84-year-old caused serious injury to a man by driving a mechanically propelled vehicle, namely an Audi Q5, without due care and attention on the A465 in Allensmore on September 3 last year.
Barnett, of Allensmore, has been disqualified from driving for two years and fined £768. He must also pay £500 in compensation to the victim. In addition, he needs to pay a victim surcharge of £307 and prosecution costs of £85.
He must pay the full balance due to the court by July 24, with a fines collection order made by magistrates to ensure he pays. His guilty plea was taken into account.
