YOU might know it as Marilyn's or Lovejoy's, or maybe Eros, Dusk, Time, or Fusion.

It is long gone now, but what is now the Freedom Church building in Hereford's Commercial Road was once home to a very popular nightspot, as well as the city's cinema.

Marilyn's opened in the former Lovejoy's premises in 1992 under the ownership of Gary Benjamin, previous licensee of the Market Tavern in Hereford and owner of Marilyn's nightclub in Evesham.

Staff at Lovejoy's, which had been run by administrators for 12 months before its closure earlier that month, had been laid off when it shut its doors.

Just six years later, in 1998, more big changes were on the way, with the nightclub overhauled and decked out with psychedelic relics as it was rebranded as Club Eros.

Manager Billy Reynolds said in June that year that the former Marilyn's had become too tired and dated for the city's clubbers, with owners Northern Leisure coming up with a new theme inspired by ancient Rome.

The £250,000 renovation saw the club bedecked with fantasy art and statues, while surreal wall paintings showed Roman buildings being sucked into a vortex, while the toilets were lined with Italian marble and mahogany panelling.

The club would later become Dusk and Time, before its final rebrand as Fusion.

It closed for good in January 2015, with Steve Harrison, who owned the Fusion business as well as a number of other pubs in Hereford, saying a cultural change was behind the closure.

Members of our We Grew Up in Hereford group on Facebook have been sharing their fond memories of the nightclub.

"On Thursday nights in the 90s this place would have been packed with clubbers queuing," said Mark Tom.

"How things have changed."

Carole Heritage had a particularly good reason for remaining fond of the place.

"Met my hubby there who was a doorman," she said.

"Married 30 years, six children, and he passed away last October. So many good memories! Thank you Marilyn's."

Tracy Ann said she thought she may have been thrown out once, back in the day.

"I never started it, but I know my stilettos weren't on my feet when I left," she said.

And it seems Tracy was not alone, with Jane Eusden replying that "you haven't lived if you've not been thrown out of there on a Thursday night!"
