A MAN has been arrested for an alleged sexual assault at a Herefordshire festival.

The incident happened on June 22 at the Sundogs event being held at Luctonians Rugby Club in Kingsland, near Leominster.

A spokesperson for West Mercia Police confirmed the arrest of the man and said the man they arrested has since been released on bail pending investigation.

The spokesperson said: "A man, aged 47, was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault following an incident at Luctonians, Kingsland, Leominster, on June 22. He has been bailed pending investigation."

Police have not released any details of the alleged assault, other than the suspect is a 47-year-old man and that the incident took place in the rugby club grounds.

Officers are continuing to investigate the reported incident.

A spokesperson for Luctonians Sports Club said: "We are aware of an isolated incident, and this was dealt with by our security team on the evening. There is a police investigation into this incident, and we await the outcome of this investigation before acting or commenting further."

The event included team rugby games and live music, with camping also available on the grounds.

Organisers had issued advice on social media before the event urging festivalgoers to report any suspicious activity to security.
