A HEREFORDSHIRE primary school is celebrating after a positive result from their recent Ofsted inspection.
St Michael’s Primary School in Bodenham has received a 'good' rating from Ofsted inspectors after they paid the school a visit in June .
Inspectors said the school, which is part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust, has an environment that allows pupils to grow and learn together, with the pupils and staff’s togetherness being obvious “from the moment they enter the building”.
The culture of well-being across the school is clear, the report said, with Ofsted noting the pupils’ focus on “learning well, working hard and wanting to learn” and how they spoke positively of the support they receive from staff, feeling safe and happy as part of the school’s ‘family’. These views were echoed by parents and carers.

The school’s strong emphasis on the personal development of the pupils was also praised. The identification of key learning was noted as a big strength, with every pupil helped to follow the ambitious curriculum. The opportunities for pupils to develop leadership roles and the school’s wide range of music and sports clubs was also highlighted as huge positives.
Ofsted complimented St Michael’s on “significant and highly effective staffing changes” that had been made, the school’s leadership’s detailed knowledge of the local context and how these impact on attendance, and their promotion of positive attitudes and children’s mental health. With this, Ofsted said expectations had been successfully raised.
Executive headteacher Michele Lewis said St Michael’s “is a school to be proud of” and said she wanted to thank everyone who plays a part in making St Michael’s the great school it is.
Canon Andrew Teale, chief executive officer at DHMAT, said: “St Michael’s CE Primary is a precious school.
Canon Teale said Mrs Lewis and head of school Alison Chambers “have worked tirelessly to ensure the school’s bespoke curriculum offer meets the need of the community, in a way which was highly praised by inspectors but, even more importantly, is treasured by the children and their families.”
