A HEREFORDSHIRE company is celebrating after opening its new purpose-built low carbon home in Ledbury.

Now based in the town's Lower Road Trading Estate, Jaga UK specialises in the design and manufacture of innovative, sustainable heating, cooling and ventilation systems.

The company, which employs 27 people in the UK, many of whom live in Ledbury, has been located in the town for over 25 years but has been relatively unknown in the local community. Managing director Phil Mangnall hopes to change that with the development of this new eco-facility.

The state-of-the-art building, named Kriekels House after the company's founding family, was opened on June 20 with a welcome morning where local businesses were invited to learn about renewable technologies and tour the facilities, followed by an opening ceremony attended by Jaga employees and customers.

Chief executive officer Jan Kriekels emphasised the company's commitment to accelerating the decarbonisation of buildings. During his address, he highlighted the importance of achieving net-zero emissions and showcased Jaga's role in this global initiative.

In line with the company’s sustainability ethos, Kriekels House was designed with a fabric-first approach to maximise energy efficiency and minimise carbon emissions.

It boasts conference rooms, which are available to hire, and a demo and training facility which will be open by  appointment to heating professionals, students and the wider community to learn about renewable energy technologies and low carbon heating and cooling, while visitors will be able to see the full workings of a building serviced by renewable technologies in the fully accessible plant room.

The building itself is heated and cooled by Jaga's high-efficiency heat pump radiators and powered by a combination of ground source and air source heat pumps, while solar panels support the facility's energy needs and provide electric car charging stations for staff and visitors.

Managing director Phil Mangnall said: “After 11 months of building, we’re delighted to have moved into and officially opened our new building.

"Kriekels House is designed to foster learning and innovation, and embodies our company ethos – centred around sustainability, creativity and social responsibility. Powered by renewable technologies, with open workspaces and dedicated training areas, we look forward to welcoming local organisations as well as schools and colleges to use our facilities and learn more about renewables and low carbon heating and cooling.”
