ONE of Herefordshire’s most iconic businesses has opened up a new shop, I went along on opening day to have a look.

Symonds of Hereford, a long established independent menswear retailer, opened their new store on Drapers Lane, Leominster, on July 12. It’ll now be opening every day Monday to Friday from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, 9.30 am to five pm on Saturday and closing on Sundays.

The store is based in what was formerly the Four Seasons hardware shop, which served the town for over 30 years before shutting down in late October last year.

The exterior of the premises has been completely transformed, with the shopfront being repainted from its previous dark green to a light grey, and an ornate lamp has been installed in the doorway. A blue and gold sign that reads ‘Symonds of Leominster’ has been fitted above the door.

The interior of the shop has been tastefully redecorated with a modern, minimalist style. A feeling of prestige was kept up despite the modernism with the inclusion of classical music and an an ornate, golden framed mirror.

The shop was incredibly well stocked, with a funky, floral summer range as well as more standard formal and business-casual menswear, with some items already on sale at discounted prices.

The new shop is the only one of its kind in the town, as whilst the are a number of women’s boutiques there is a complete lack of menswear outlets in Leominster, however there are plans for the outlet to stock womenswear soon.
