AN EPIC annual truck show has made a real splash at Malvern’s Three Counties showground.

Truckfest is Europe's largest series of trucking events, celebrating the world of trucks, trailers, and all things transportation.

Entertaining the masses for over 42 years, the festival “continues to captivate audiences with its thrilling displays, family-friendly activities, and vibrant community atmosphere.”

Boasting an impressive surge in truck entries and ticket sales compared to last year, we travelled to the Malvern show on July 6 to see the event for ourselves.

As soon as we got out of our car at the showground, the thunderous roar of the monster trucks could be heard, deafeningly revving around as the crowds admired the spectacle.

We soon found the source of the excitement was an opportunity to have a ride in the back of one of the monster trucks. We knew we had to try this out!

Having queued up and paid a reasonable fare of £10 each, my dad and I were loaded on to a ‘Slingshot’ monster truck. The vehicle’s undoubtedly powerful engine growled impatiently as we waited for another monster truck to finish its ride, and then we were off, whizzing around the field at incredible speed as mud flew from the Slingshot’s immense wheels. Grinning as we clambered off the truck, we were glad we didn't have lunch first!

We all had a pasty from one of the many food stands for lunch a bit later after seeing who the Truckfest website describes as the UK’s top-ranked freestyle motocross riders, Broke FMX stunt bikers performing in the main arena. Incorporating the latest heart-stopping tricks as usually only seen on TV, the way the bikers would fearlessly speed towards the sky on their ramps and flip with their bikes in mid-air was astonishing and so exciting to watch.

Also in the main arena later on, adrenaline junkies like me could enjoy the jaw-dropping performances of monster trucks Swampthing and Slingshot. The trucks ramped a pile of scrap cars with ease, squashing them under their mighty tyres to the enormous crowd's delight.
