A CLOSED Herefordshire pub is on the market with new tenants wanted.

The prominent pub in Herefordshire's Wye Valley is currently being advertised by commercial agents Sidney Phillips for £18,500 (leasehold).

The agents said the Crown Inn in Whitchurch, which is currently closed, sits at the centre of the village, just off the main A40 and is available on a free-of-tie lease.

It offers a lounge bar, seating around 25 covers, with a beamed-effect ceiling and fireplace with exposed stone chimney breast and a solid-fuel burner. The adjacent restaurant area, which also has an open fireplace with an exposed stone chimney breast, has space for around 40 covers at assorted tables and chairs.

The public bar and games room, which has a beamed ceiling, flagstone floor, and a further stone chimney with a dual-aspect log burner, also offers a fully equipped bar and servery. The agents said this area is not currently in use, but could seat some 40 customers when furnished.

The pub, which is near Ross-on-Wye, also has a beer cellar and toilets.

On the first floor is the owners accommodation, which offers three double bedrooms, a large lounge, kitchen, bathroom, and separate toilet, while on the second floor are a number of storage rooms, one of which is to be retained by the freeholder.

There are also six en-suite letting rooms, as well as a partially covered patioed veranda to the front of the property and a large, enclosed, patioed and lawned rear trade garden.
