A HEREFORD woman stole hundreds of pounds from her ex-husband when their marriage broke down.

Tracey Barrett, 49, stole £387.57 belonging to her ex-husband, using a business card.

But Hereford Magistrates’ Court heard that “the complainant was at fault as a business owner, not to stop and take back the business card in question when the parties’ marriage broke down”.

Represented in court by defence solicitor Marilena Di Vitantonio, Barrett was spared from paying compensation or a victim surcharge after the court deemed her ex-husband was “at fault”.

But she did admit one count of theft from the person of another, and was handed a 12-month community order requiring her to complete up to 20 days of rehabilitation activities. She must also pay a £25 fine and £85 in court costs.
