A MAN has been handed a huge court bill amounting to almost £1,000 after an assault in Hereford.
Lloyd Gregory entered a guilty plea to one count of assault by beating when he appeared before magistrates at Hereford Magistrates’ Court earlier this month.
Assault by beating is an offence under section 29 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988.
Gregory had previously been charged with common assault, but this charge was dropped at the hearing on July 17 and changed to the different assault charge of assault by beating.

Hereford magistrates heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip at a hearing on July 17 that the 29-year-old had attacked a man on April 28 by beating him.
Gregory, of the Pastures, Upton Bishop, was handed a £980 court bill.
This was made up of £125 in compensation to the victim, a £550 fine, £85 in prosecution costs and a £220 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping fund services supporting victims of crime.
