A HEREFORDSHIRE school and college came together to party the night away for prom.
Herefordshire’s Barrs Court SEN School and the Beacon SEN College students joined forces for the special evening.
The two Herefordshire academies, both under the Accordia Academies Trust, held the prom for all of their leavers, “marking the end of one chapter and the beginning of another,” said executive headteacher and chief executive officer Lisa Appleton.
"Our prom was a resounding triumph, bringing together students, staff, families and friends in a celebration of our students' achievements and the culmination of their school and college journey."
Ms Appleton said it was heart-warming to see the students enjoy an evening of elegance, fun, and camaraderie, and that she “would like to extend [her] deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the prom an unforgettable experience".
“It was indeed a night to remember, and I am grateful to have shared it with such an extraordinary group of young people".
Head of college, Joe Hibbert said: "It was a delight to host such a prestigious event for our student community, families and carers."
Comments such as “it was the best night I've ever had”, "I enjoyed the evening so much" and "I liked the DJ Roddy and I've enjoyed my time at the Beacon learning how to work independently" radiated positivity for 2024’s prom, which was so "brilliantly organised by Carrie Pitt".
Parents of the prom-goers wanted to say, "a big thank you to everyone involved" in making the prom “so special, all the students looked amazing".
Barrs Court SEN School and the Beacon SEN College wanted to give special thanks to Roddy Hankins for donating his time to DJ for the students, to JJ & Little Dots Cafe for their beautiful buffet food and Belmont Tesco for donating towards drinks.
The school and college’s prom raffle wouldn’t have been the success it was without the kind donations of The Dog Inn and the Temple Bar Inn, the Left Bank Village, Flip out, Hereford, Old Stables Fish and Chip Shop, Monkey Mania, Oakerwood, Green Spider Climbing, Halo Leisure; The Beefy Boys, The Buzz, and Hereford's Bill’s Kitchen.
The Ofsted outstanding academies’ ethos of "together we empower and believe, to thrive and achieve,” is reflected more than ever in this spectacular celebration of the Barrs Court and Beacon student’s achievements.
