TAKEAWAY customers in one Herefordshire town have been accused of blocking drives and causing hazards.

People popping in to Bromyard to pick up their meal are alleged to have been parking in precarious positions in the town, according to recently published draft minutes from a meeting of Bromyard Town Council's traffic management committee.

Bromyard is home to an array of takeaways, including a kebab shop and Chinese and Indian takeaways, while other local businesses also offer takeaway options.

On-street parking is available throughout the town, in addition to car parks in Tenbury Road and Rowberry Street, both a short walk from the town's takeaway businesses.

What are the rules on parking?

The Highway Code makes it clear that double yellow lines indicate a prohibition of waiting at any time, even if there are no upright signs.

Rule 242 of the code says drivers must not leave their vehicle or trailer in a dangerous position or where it causes any unnecessary obstruction of the road, while rule 243 prohibits stopping or parking in front of an entrance to a property except when forced to do so by stationary traffic.
