SPEEDING drivers had better watch out in one Herefordshire town after complaints were made to councillors.

Bromyard councillors heard from a local at a meeting earlier this year that they had contacted police about speeding in Bromyard's Church Street, but that police had told them they did not consider speeding to be a problem in the area.

The local was calling for flashing radar signs to be installed in the street to remind drivers to keep within the speed limit.

Councillors also heard from a business owner who said they wanted traffic calming measures installed in Rowberry Street.

"Members were not aware of speeding issues in Rowberry Street as this is the first time the council has been contacted about it," minutes published in April from a meeting of Bromyard Town Council's traffic management committee said.

It was resolved at the time to recommend that the council ask Bromyard's Safer Neighbourhood Team to carry out on-site checks to see if there are speeding problems in Church Street and Rowberry Street.

Now, draft minutes from the committee's July meeting confirm that officers from Bromyard's safer neighbourhood team have agreed to carry out speed checks in Church Street and Rowberry Street.

Officers also carried out speed enforcement on the A465 over the weekend of June 15 and 16, the minutes said, with two speeding tickets issued each day.
