A THIEF has been jailed and banned from Herefordshire shops after stealing wine.
Jason Wargen admitted six counts of theft from a shop, three counts of failing to comply with a community protection notice and one count of assault by beating when he appeared before magistrates in Kidderminster.
He made off with a total of 11 bottles of wine from shops in Leominster including Applegreen and Co-Op.
The total value of the stolen wine was £87.45.
He admitted committing the thefts, breaching the community protection notice and assaulting a victim at the Kidderminster hearing.
The 49-year-old has been jailed for 48 weeks.

Magistrates said: “The offences are so serious that only a custodial sentence can be justified. The defendant has a flagrant disregard for people and their property.”
Wargen, of South Street, Leominster, was also handed a three-year criminal behaviour order banning him from all Co-Op supermarkets, Aldi supermarkets and Spar shops in Herefordshire as well as Savers, Subway and Applegreen in Leominster.
No order was made for costs, but Wargen was told to pay £26.97 in compensation to Applegreen.
