A Herefordshire fish and chip shop faces losing its licence over what police allege are immigration offences.
West Mercia Police licensing officer PC Dean Wall has asked Herefordshire Council to review the licence of Quality Fish & Chips of Bye Street, Ledbury, after three people at the outlet were detained.
Police and immigration officers had made a joint visit to the premises, whose licence holder was named as Jaskarn Kaur, on July 11, PC Wall explained.

As licensing authority, the council has limited means to address alleged criminality at a business premises, amounting to suspending or removing its entitlement to sell alcohol, or to serve hot food after 11pm – known in licensing terms as “late night refreshment”.
Following a consultation on the police’s application, which runs until August 21, the case is expected to be heard at a future meeting of the council’s licensing subcommittee.
The subcommittee last month revoked the licence of Ruby Chinese Takeaway of Union Street, Hereford, following similar allegations by police over immigration offences.
