A MAN has admitted threatening to attack someone with a hammer in Hereford.

The incident happened on November 1 last year in Richmond Street, said the Crown Prosecution Service.

Elliott Cairney, 32, of Richmond Street, was remanded on bail ahead of his sentencing on August 27.

He appeared at Hereford Magistrates’ Court on July 24 and pleaded guilty to one count of threatening a person with an offensive weapon in a public place.

The weapon was said to be a claw hammer, and he was said to have unlawfully and intentionally threatened another man in such a way that there was an immediate risk of serious physical harm.

A pre-sentence report will be prepared before his next hearing, and Cairney was not given any conditions to follow during his bail, but most attend court on August 27.

Cairney was represented in court by defence solicitor Belinda Ariss of Lister Brady.
