A new three-storey home with a roof terrace could be built in the middle of Hereford if a planning application is successful.
Prime Design describes the building (in application 241886) as attached to 6 St Peters Street, which it also owns, though the proposed house would be accessed from the adjoining Offa Street.
A brief statement accompanying the application from Prime’s agent, HDP Architecture of Ross-on-Wye, says the scheme would extend upwards the existing ground-floor building, currently an office, kitchen and lobby within a small enclosed yard.

The brick exterior of the ground floor would be rendered to match its larger neighbour, while the new upper floors “will be clad with a more contemporary composite cladding board”.
The arrangement of the new windows will echo the existing building and its end stairwell, the statement adds.
Plans accompanying the bid show the ground-floor office replaced by a lobby accessed from a new door onto Offa Street, along with a new stairwell and bedroom.

A lounge and kitchen would occupy the new first floor, there would be two more bedrooms on the second floor, while the stairs would continue up to a roof terrace above, edged with a glass balustrade.
The large former commercial building alongside has planning approval for conversion into four flats which is currently being carried out.
Comments on the current application can be made until August 30.
