Herefordshire musician Bastie Ingram has announced the title and release date of his latest single and is set to perform the song over the August bank holiday.
Speaking of his new single, the rising indie-pop artist from Ledbury said “I wrote this track about my sister and was thrilled to have John Webber master this one having worked on Bowie, Hozier and Nick Cave records in the past.”
Bastie and his band will be performing the song for the first time during the August bank holiday at Camper Calling before playing at the Victorious Festival alongside Wet Leg, James Bay and The Kooks.
"She's Got to Go," set for release on August 16, is an indie-pop anthem that tells the story of a determined young woman leaving home to chase her dreams whilst highlighting Bastie’s emotive storytelling and with the song’s dynamic arrangement – a resonant piece that speaks to the adventurer in all of us.
Recording the track with his band, Bastie aimed to reproduce the live energy they've been praised for with the help of Danny Monk, renowned for his contributions to bands like Flyte, and Luke Pritchard from The Kooks.
Bastie is well known for his infectious melodies, emotive lyrics and being a former BBC Introducing Artist of the Week.
He has received extensive airplay from BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, performed at festivals such as Boardmasters, Carfest and Lakefest, and is already halfway through their 2024 summer festival run after appearing at Pub in the Park and Wibbly Woods.
His previous releases have garnered much praise from media outlets such as BBC Introducing, Hot Press, Clout, and Earmilk, and earned him a finalist position in the UK Songwriting Competition, judged by Brit and Grammy award winners.
Earmilk praised “Bastie's ability to infuse authenticity into every note,” as what “sets him apart in the musical landscape,” while Hot Press noted his "pristine, soulful vocal range and evocative lyrics that pull at the heartstrings."
With "She’s Got to Go", Bastie wanted to capture the essence of self-discovery and the courage it takes to leave behind the familiar in pursuit of the unknown.
