A HEREFORDSHIRE gin company is celebrating winning top awards... again!
Following last year’s two Great Taste wins, Herefordshire-made Gun Dog Gin has made it a double after being awarded once again by this year’s esteemed judging panel.
Gun Dog Gin’s Chuckleberry Gin Liqueur, made using a locally grown hybrid fruit, has been awarded an outstanding three stars, the highest award achievable from the Guild of Fine Food Great Taste judges.
The Herefordshire brand was also awarded ‘Great Taste Producer’ status. Such a prestigious status is only given to manufacturers which have won at least three Great Taste awards repeatedly, in the last 5 years.
The Guild of Fine Food’s Great Taste awards are the largest and most respected food and drink accreditation scheme. The Great Taste stars are internationally recognised as a reliable stamp of excellence among consumers, retailers, and major food buyers alike.
Great Taste describe three-star worthy food and drink as “exquisite,” “extraordinarily tasting” and “above and beyond delicious”. Three stars are only awarded to “less than two per cent of entrants” say Great Taste.
Gun Dog Gin sources the top-quality fruit used in its artisan, small-batch production from local growers across Herefordshire, including much from farming friends and family. No artificial flavours or fruit syrups, or other derivatives are used in production, only “real fruit”.
“A chuckleberry is a hybrid between a redcurrant, a gooseberry and a jostaberry. A jostaberry is already a hybrid of a gooseberry and blackcurrant,” says Gun Dog Gin’s website.
