A MAJOR Herefordshire road will be partially closed for nearly two weeks as vital repair jobs are carried out.

Roadworks will be taking place on the A44 from the B4220 to Norton Lane via Bringsty Common from Monday, August 12, and continue until Saturday, August 24.

Herefordshire Council said that the partial major road closure is necessary due to vital work including resurfacing the road and implementing anti-skid measures.

"We will make every effort to provide vehicular access to properties within the road closure, but there may be times when it is not possible or there are delays," the council spokesperson said.

“Assistance and guidance can be obtained from the dedicated marshals on site. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you."

Nearby Bringsty Vintage Café said in a Facebook post that the business is "absolutely gutted" at the news of the road closure, adding that it was taking place in what should have been its busiest month. The works will see the café closed between August 12 and August 16 and August 19 and 22.
