OP Nova provides veterans in contact with the justice system with specialist emotional and practical support.
This enables veterans to access dedicated services in areas such as health, housing, finances, legal affairs, and employment. The support is available pre, during and post custody throughout England.
We work closely with West Mercia Police, probation service, mental health teams and many charitable partners across the region including the Herefordshire Veteran Support Centre (HVSC) in Hereford, currently located in West Street.
I am the dedicated regional caseworker for veterans across West Mercia. I have a background working at the Military Corrective Training Centre and previously embedded within the veterans mental health team in my home town of Colchester, Essex.
After initial registration with the national support team, I conduct in depth needs assessments with each individual to ensure that personalised support is put in place. Collaboration and support to engage with partner charities is paramount to the Op Nova’s success with consistently good feedback we aim to support our veterans through every aspect of their encounter with the justice system.

“The help and support I have received from Op Nova has been beyond anything I can imagine it’s been exemplary,” says feedback from one of our veterans. “Gayle my mentor rings me weekly and is always there if I’m struggling. I need only text and she responds, the support she has offered me so far has been invaluable to me".
