The date has been announced for a byelection to fill a vacancy left by the death of a well-respected Herefordshire councillor.
Credenhill ward member and True Independents leader Bob Matthews died in June, having represented the area northwest of Hereford on the county council since 2011.
Herefordshire Council has announced that, so long as more than one candidate comes forward, the election will be on Thursday September 26.

Those wishing to stand in the election have until the end of this week to register. Nomination papers must be hand-delivered to the council’s returning officer at Blueschool House, Hereford by 4pm on Friday August 30.
Those in the ward who are not yet registered to vote have until Tuesday September 10 to do so – which can be done in person at Blueschool House or online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote .
Coun Matthews was re-elected to represent Credenhill at local elections in May last year with 351 votes, 43 more than his Conservative opponent.
No announcement of a byelection has been made in Bishops Frome and Cradley ward, still officially held by Greens group leader Ellie Chowns who became MP for North Herefordshire at last month’s general election and is expected to now relinquish her council seat.
