The fate of a former café in a Herefordshire village has been decided – again.
Known as The Stores, on the main B4218 Walwyn Road through Colwall near Malvern, the Victorian semi-detached property served as The Pavilion café until 2020.
It had previously traded as Café at The Stores and Bonne Bouche, among others.

A previous plan to convert the ground floor to residential accommodation, retaining the front extension, was approved in June last year.
But now a new plan by a different applicant, Tom Jones, resident at the property, proposes bringing the two storeys of the building together as a single house.
Given its location in the village conservation area, the conversion was to restore the building’s original façade minus its later front extension, with the addition instead of a small porch.

Unlike with the previous application, Colwall parish council offered no objection this time, nor were there any objections from the public or technical consultees.
Planning officer Amber Morris said that as with the previous plan, it had been shown that retaining the café was not economically viable.
And while its loss was “regrettable”, the conversion plan “will preserve and somewhat enhance the amenity of the village”, she concluded.
