A HEREFORD city centre shop has issued a major update as it is granted an extra month at its current premises.

Sands, which is based in the former JD Sports unit in Hightown, previously announced it would be closing its doors on August 31, with a “closing down sale” ongoing, offering up to 70 per cent off some of its stock.

A spokesperson for the shop, which sells “fine leather, gifts, and travel goods” said at the time they have no choice but to close, after having apparently “lost the lease” to the property.

The business added that they believed both footfall and spending on the high street has fallen significantly, and they're unable to compete with "rising bills".

But now customers on the hunt for new luggage have been given a reprieve, with Sands owner Qais Paiman confirming that the business, which opened its current shop in Hereford in 2022, has been given an extra month at its current location by its landlords.

Mr Paiman said the business will remain at the former JD Sports shop until the end of September.

And there is more good news for shoppers, as Mr Paiman revealed where the business will be moving to.

The business had previously said it was “actively looking for other suitable units to move to”, and now, Mr Paiman said, a premises has been found, with the business set to move to Hereford's Commercial Road.
