Platform Housing said 17 of the homes are available for affordable rent and 27 are shared ownership.
Wahid Iqbal, project manager at Platform Housing, said: "We are delighted that the housing development has come to fruition, as there is a significant need for affordable housing. It is a beautiful site, located amongst rural fields and classified as an area within the river Wye special area of conservation, with the homes enjoying green distant views. It also includes a traditional play area for children."
Middleton Avenue is in the west of the town, off Archenfield Road and close to Ashfield Park Primary School.
