Looking for something to do this weekend for all the family? Look no further, Herefordshire Wildlife Trust are putting on the day across the county (September 7).
Hereford
The trust is calling on the people of Herefordshire to join in with a “Day of Action” for Herefordshire’s rivers and streams.
Join a colourful cast of characters at 10am by the High Town Hereford Bull. The trust has said that celebratory wildlife and river-themed outfits, costumes and banners all welcome! From here they will meander their way through the streets to, at 11am, the neglected site, the ‘old Essex Arms site, which they hope to transform to a thriving wetland nature reserve.
Wellington
Everyone is invited to the activities in Wellington at 10am to learn about river health, Natural Flood Management and community action on a walk around the Wellington Brook
The walk is 4 kilometres long and will take approximately 2 hours. Please wear suitable footwear. There will be no water or toilet facilities on the walk. 10am start at Mill Lane, Wellington.
Ross-on-Wye
A family-friendly drop-in event is being run in Ross-on-Wye from 10 till 11.30am, with the chance to learn about water quality and try our water testing kits
There will be an opportunity to survey different freshwater habitats, using water testing kits, to assess the level of nitrate and phosphate pollution; two nutrients which can pose a major risk to wildlife if they are above natural levels.
