Howard Moseley Family Butchers, which is based at 16 Drapers Lane in Leominster, put down the knives for the last time earlier this month after the owners announced their plans for retirement.

Through its last week serving customers, the shop displayed a heartfelt message outside thanking its customers.

“For all your loyal custom, wonderful chats, loving hugs, and your huge support to us especially over the last two years," the notice said.

“Reluctantly it is time for us to hang our aprons and put away our butchery skills

The family butcher's website says Mr Moseley began his successful career as an apprentice butcher back in 1977 with Dewhursts, learning traditional butchery and cutting skills.

He then rose to the position of shop manager in Stourbridge, before coming back to his home county to run the Leominster branch.

Working for Baxters, Mr Moseley set the record for opening sales with his branch in Hereford High Street and then spent time travelling around the county helping shops to see how they could improve.

After overseeing 16 shops as district manager, he worked in supermarket butchery before moving on to life as his own boss, where he could “practise his own ethos”.

The shop was described as being full of "delicious meats", that were personally sourced and cut by "the master of butchery himself".
