A Herefordshire woman who hosted some of the country's most famous rockstars in her house is releasing a tell-all book about her experiences.

Tiffany Murray is releasing her first memoir, detailing how it all started when her Herefordian mother Joan, advertised her vicarage in Norton Canon as a rehearsal space for bands.

The book details her joyful but unconventional childhood, with her mother, Joan at the helm of feeding some of the countries most most famous bands.

First came Queen, then Black Sabbath, then Tax and Horslips. Over the years many bands followed, with Tiffany often encountering them in and around her home.

Tiffany's mother cooked up feasts for the iconic bands, and followed them to Rockfield Studios in Monmouthshire, feeding ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ in the summer of 1975.

Opening in 1965, Rockfield Studios became the world's first residential studio, and has seen its fair share of stars descend on it. From Oasis to Black Sabbath, many music legends have spent time at the Wye Valley haven.

My Family and Other Rock Stars is Tiffany's unique story of growing up in a rural idyll, of “Cordon Bleu cookery” and of a childhood where the chances of bumping into Freddie Mercury playing piano, or a group of Hell's Angels turning up to record for Lemmy, or even the hope of David Bowie appearing, were as normal as “hopscotch and homework”.

Tiffany, who attended Hereford Cathedral School, will be having a Hereford celebration at Waterstones on Thursday Sept 19 from 6pm.
