One aspect of Belmont that appealed to me in anticipation of moving to the area in 2017 was the prominence of the Belmont Tesco clock tower as a landmark; yet I suspect that that may also have been a factor for Lidl in its decision to lay down roots at the former Three Counties Hotel site.
Why? Because, to my recollection, the clock face of the Belmont Tesco clock tower has remained stuck on the same time since before the HT reported anything of Lidl’s plans, and this factor perhaps reveals a corporate disinterest for the prime location for a ‘flagship’ store that Tesco already has at Belmont.
