PERHAPS a smoking ban is another over the top action that is maybe not needed... or is it (online: Smoking ban UK: Hereford pub landlords speak out)?
I talked to a relative of mine who goes to the Barrels in Hereford most Friday nights and goes in the smokers’ garden with his mates if the weather allows. He and his mates don’t smoke but enjoy their pints and conversations. His comment to me (via WhatsApp) was nowadays way less folks smoke than in the past. No problems for him!

I live in California USA but hail from Ross and Hereford in Herefordshire before emigrating via my job in the eighties. I gave up smoking just 12 years ago and on September 15 I celebrate 23 years sober without an alcoholic drink of any form. I gratefully ‘survived’ open heart surgery in 2016 because smoking severely damaged my heart during my smoking years. Enough said!

Maybe a ban is needed and lives will be improved and saved.
I really don’t see any Brits I know not going to the pub and not drinking because of any smoking ban. Also, perhaps it will help some folks quit smoking live a little longer and reduce the cost of NHS health costs. Just sayin’!
