A former Hereford student is going to be taking to the Strictly dance floor for the first time tomorrow.

Comedian Chris McCausland, a former student of the Royal National College for the Blind, is going to be displaying his best moves for millions of viewers tomorrow, along with his pro-dancer partner, Diane Buswell.

The hit BBC show is returning tomorrow, and will see the duos perform for the first time. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and hosts Tess Daley and Claudia Winkelman will be welcoming the new couples back to the dance floor, and whilst they will all be hoping for high scores from the judges, they are also, for the first time, dancing for the publics votes from home.

McCausland, who has previously said he was unsure about taking part in the show, recently  joked that his dancing partner Buswell, “really wants November off” so she is delighted with having him as a partner.

On the show, former Strictly finalist Buswell said she is not sure how “it’s going to work” between her and the comedian, who is the first blind Strictly contestant.

McCausland said: “We’re going to make mistakes and have a laugh about them. Then we’re going to turn up here and show you all of the mistakes that we’ve learnt.”

He added that he had to get “the jokes” in early, as he will be gone in “three weeks”.

Fans of both Strictly and McCausland can tune into BBC One from 7pm on Saturday 21 September 2024, to see how he gets on in the nerve-wracking first episode.
