ANOTHER weather warning has been issued for Herefordshire, with the weekend looking to be a washout.

A Met Office yellow warning for thunderstorms is already in force from midday to 8pm today (September 20), with forecasters warning that thunderstorms and heavy showers could cause disruption.

Where thunderstorms do occur today, the Met Office said, they will bring frequent lightning, gusty winds, potentially some large hail, as well as brief spells of heavy rain.

There is also a weather warning for thunderstorms set to come into force at 1am tomorrow (September 21) and remain in force until 11.59pm.

Hail and frequent lightning may accompany the most intense storms, especially during Saturday afternoon and evening in parts of the Midlands, southern England and east Wales, the Met Office said.

New weather warning

And now a third weather warning in as many days has been issued, this time for Sunday (September 22).

The new yellow weather warning for rain will be in force all day on Sunday.

The Met Office said showers and thunderstorms are expected to merge into broader areas of heavy rain across parts of Wales, central and southern England during Sunday.

Some areas could see 30-50 mm in less than 6 hours, with a few places receiving 60-80mm over the course of 12-24 hours, forecasters said.

Southwest England looks likely to see some heavy rain during the early hours of Sunday morning, breaking up into slow-moving, heavy and in places thundery downpours during the day time.

What should I expect?

Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some temporary road closures, the Met Office said, with a small chance that some rural communities will temporarily become cut off by flooded roads

Significant delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible, while homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings

The Met Office said there is also a small chance of power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses.
