HEREFORDSHIRE Council has issued an update on blocked drains in a Hereford street after it was hit by flooding.

Perseverance Road  in the Holmer area of Hereford was badly hit by flooding on Friday (September 20), with one business, Autosport Models and Collectables, confirming it would be closed on Saturday and postponing its Batman Day event to next weekend as a result.

Pictures from the street this weekend showed several heavily blocked drains.

Now Herefordshire Council has issued an update on the situation in the street, confirming that works have been carried out to clear the drains.

A spokesperson for Herefordshire Council, said: “We operate a programme of gully emptying across our highway network on both a cyclical and reactive basis.

"Our partner contractors have been responding to reports of blocked gullies at locations around the county due to the flooding this weekend, and have been to Perseverance Road and Mortimer Road today to carry out work in these areas.

"To enable us to help those who have been impacted by the flooding, we would always encourage people to report a flood to us as soon as possible on 01432 261800.
