A cherished Leominster bakery is hanging up its oven gloves THIS WEEK, after 70 years in the business.
Central Bakery in West Street announced its decision to close in early August, adding it had been hard and emotional for the team, after being in the same family for three generations.
At the time of the announcement, the bakery added that rising costs of ingredients and utilities had contributed to the decision to close the business. It also cited the dwindling footfall they have experienced due to the development of Leominster High Street and Corn Square.
The statement added that the family had loved “being one of the focal points of Leominster” and thanked customers for their loyal support over the years.

A post on their Facebook page, from yesterday (September 22) thanked customers for their support, and confirmed the shop's final day, saying: "Oh wow…..after all this time, it’s hard to announce that this week will be our final week open as Central Bakery.
"We are open 8.30 to 2pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri and Saturday this week. The doors will close at 2pm on Saturday (or before if we sell out) for good.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers that have supported us for all these years. We wish you all the best. Thank you so much".
The coffee shop section of the bakery was closed at the end of August, with the team offering half price milkshakes and smoothies, in a farewell to their loyal customer base.
