LOOKING for things happening in and around Herefordshire this autumn?

We've compiled some upcoming events to keep all the family busy in and around the county.

These are three of the events published in the what's on section of the Hereford Times this week (September 26), focusing on events happening in autumn.

Outdoor Cinema Hereford

Outdoor Cinema will be hosting two exciting open-air cinema experiences on October 26.

Families can enjoy the family blockbuster smash Hocus Pocus from 4pm to 6.30pm. After sunset, the cult classic, the Lost Boys, will be screened from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Director of the company, Mo Davies, expressed excitement about the upcoming event, and said: "We've been doing Halloween screenings for four years now, and we strive to provide more than just a film. We create a little immersive experience for our guests. This is the second time in Hereford but we're playing the Lost Boys for the first time, and judging by the ticket sales, it's a popular choice."

The event will be at Hereford Racecourse and promises to be a thrilling and unforgettable experience for movie enthusiasts of all ages.

Dinosaur Adventure

The all new exciting show, Trouble on Volcano Island, is coming to Hereford's Courtyard on November 1.

When the island's ancient volcano becomes active, it spells danger for everyone – including the dinosaurs. It's a race against time to help the rangers and dinosaurs in this thrilling prehistoric expedition, to save Volcano Island from imminent disaster.

Meet the triceratops, spinosaurus, T-rex and baby dinos, encountering wild new species of dinosaur whilst conquering exhilarating challenges at every turn. 

This amazing, immersive and interactive show is promised to be an unforgettable adventure for the whole family. 

After the show there will be a free photo opportunity and chance to meet the dinos.

(Image: Simon Annand) 75 years on from the publication of George Orwell’s groundbreaking novel 1984, Theatre Royal Bath Productions’ thrilling new stage version by Ryan Craig and directed by Lindsay Posner, which will play Malvern Theatres.

George Orwell’s masterpiece creates a world where every action is painstakingly monitored and controlled by a powerful regime, where independent thought and choice are relics of an almost-forgotten past.

Actor, comedian and musician Keith Allen plays O’Brien, with Mark Quartley as Winston, Eleanor Wyld as Julia and David Birrell as Parsons. 

Ryan Craig’s recent work includes Charlotte and Theodore, which received its world premiere at the Ustinov Studio in February 2023. Nominated as Most Promising Playwright at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2005, he has gone on to win acclaim for The Holy Rosenbergs and Our Class at the National Theatre, The Glass Room and Filthy Business at Hampstead Theatre.

Director Lindsay Posner's recent credits include the West End transfers of Noises Off and A View From The Bridge, and the sell-out success of The Deep Blue Sea.

The creative team includes Justin Nardella (Set, Costume and Video Designer), Paul Pyant (Lighting Designer) and Giles Thomas (Sound Designer), with Associate Video Designer Stanley Orwin-Fraser, Casting Director Ginny Schiller CDG, Associate Director George Jibson and Assistant Designer Lorelei Cairns.

The play will be in Malvern from October 1 to 5.
