Some Leominster residents have been left without broadband for a week, in what appears to be a mass outage across all providers around some of the market town.

Angry and frustrated residents and business owners have now spoken out, after a tumultuous week, with some left in despair at the situation.

Nina Abrahall, landlady of the Barons Cross Inn, said that her business had been without internet for over a week, and they have struggled to find a solution to the problem with their broadband provider.

"They are due to be contacting us again this week to see whether or not they can log it as a fault but a huge number of our customers broadband is also off and no one seems to be able to get to the bottom of what is going on.

"The couple of people who have been able to register faults have been offered engineer visits in late October which is clearly completely unacceptable. We have to buy a mobile router and use that as a hot spot in order to get any internet connection whatsoever."

Sarah Davies, whose internet has also been down for the past week, says she has resorted to using her neighbours internet in order to continue working. 

Ms Davies also added that her children, who are both in high school, have been unable to complete some of their homework due to the sudden inconvenience.

Abigail Davies says her mother's broadband also disconnected a week ago, with their provider suggesting that "no one is at fault". 

Ms Davies says her mother has been left without a way to pay her bills or access online banking.

"I could understand if it was just one provider. But the fact it’s every provider in random areas of Leominster I find crazy.

"It’s shocking that no one knows what’s going on. If you are to take away all the local services such as banks away from elderly people you have to ensure that broadband issues are resolved immediately," she said.

A spokesperson for Openreach said they would look into the matter "urgently".

"Anyone affected should report the fault to their provider (the company they pay their bill to); we’ll then be notified," they said.

Telecoms providers have been contacted for comment on the situation.
