The chief source of noise complaints in Hereford has been revealed.
In a response to a freedom of information (FOI) request, Herefordshire Council said it received 29 noise complaints in the city alone in the year to the end of June.
Of these, 17, or around three in five, were to do with loud music.

Other causes of complaints were noise from people and barking dogs (four apiece), with noise from machinery and vehicle repairs also featuring.
But a positive trend shown by the figures is that the total number of noise complaints in Hereford has declined for two years running.
In the year to July 2023, 41 such complaints were made in the city, with a similar share, 25, concerning loud music.

This also saw two complaints relating to church bells or phones ringing.
The previous year, with people still spending more time at home due to the Covid-19 pandemic, 66 such complaints were made in Hereford, with 43, or two-thirds, concerning loud music.
The 2021-22 year also featured the only complaint over the three-year period over noise from fireworks.
According to an earlier FOI response from the council in May, across the county since the start of 2022 it had issued five noise abatement orders but no fines arising from noise complaints.
