A HEREFORD cafe will be closing this month, it has been confirmed.

In an announcement posted to social media, Church Street's La Madeleine said it is "time to say goodbye".

"It’s with a heavy heart, that we’ve come to the tough decision to say goodbye to La Madeleine," the announcement said.

"We’ve had an amazing eight years on Church Street but the time has come for us to move on to new challenges.

"We started out and remain a small family business that has grown to include all of the staff that have been with us over the years. It’s been an amazing journey with our La Madeleine family."

The business said it would like to thank all of its "wonderful, loyal customers", who have been with the team through "all the challenges the last few years have thrown up".

"It goes without saying that we couldn’t have done it without your support," the announcement said.

The cafe's last day of trading will be Saturday, October 12, the announcement said. 

But, the business said, there is an "exciting new restaurant" taking over, which will be announced in due course.

The incoming business is run by a small family team too, the announcement said.

"We really hope we can see as many familiar faces between now and then as possible, we’d love to say goodbye in person," the announcement said.
