A MAJOR road in Herefordshire will be closed tonight (October 3).

The M50 will be closed between the M5 at Strensham and junction two from 9pm to 6am.

The road will be closed westbound, meaning those wanting to join the M50 from the M5 will need to find another route.

This will affect traffic coming towards Herefordshire from the Midlands.

National Highways' official diversion will be signposted for drivers.

National Highways has said: "The closure is from the M5 J8 (Strensham) to the M50 J2, and will be an overnight closure for planned roadworks. It's a signed diversion and will be between 9pm and 6am."

There were recently more roadworks on the M50, with different sections of the road being closed over several nights in the summer.

National Highways has not disclosed what tonight's roadworks will involve.
