A MAN has been arrested and released on police bail after an incident in Hereford on Friday (October 4).
West Mercia Police officers were called to Herefordshire, Ludlow College and North Shropshire College in Folly Lane following a report of a man carrying a bow and arrow.
The police force has said that this is believed to have been an isolated incident.
A police spokesperson said on Friday: "A man has been arrested this afternoon following a report of him carrying a bow and arrow at Herefordshire and Ludlow College, Folly Lane in Hereford.
"We believe this to be an isolated incident, and officers will remain in the area to offer reassurance to students, staff and the community."
Today (October 7), the police provided an update and said: "The man who was arrested has been released on bail while enquiries continue."
The man is understood to have been arrested in the Kings Fee pub in Commercial Road, but this has not been confirmed by police. Wetherspoons remained open on the day of the arrest, but staff declined to comment on the incident when Hereford Times reporters visited the scene.
We approached several nearby businesses including Hogarths and local shops and restaurants, all of which said they had not seen the incident take place.

The college itself gave a statement on the evening of the incident, saying: "On the advice of the police all three colleges went into lockdown on Friday afternoon as a precaution. We would like to thank all staff and students who responded calmly and swiftly.
"We worked with the local authorities and were informed it was safe for students and staff to leave at approximately 4pm. The incident has now been fully resolved and all three colleges will be open as usual next week."
The suspect who was arrested has not been charged and cannot be identified at this stage.
