I have farmed in Canada and north Wales, and it was always accepted that farmers with fields that meant they had to take tractors into roads were obliged, legally, to clean the road (Herefordshire A-road closed due to ‘unsafe’ mud, October 6).
It was compulsory. Snow, likewise, had to be cleared in Canada.
If the council had to do it, you paid!
