Construction has begun on a new sustainable development in a sought-after Herefordshire village.

A “highly anticipated” development in Fownhope is starting to take shape, with working beginning on ten two to four-bedroom properties.

The developer, Freeman Homes, has said that the 10 new EPC A-rated properties, which may appeal to the "eco-conscious buyer", will benefit from several energy-efficient features, including integrated solar roof panels and air source heat pumps.

Freeman Homes has said that the eco-development will carefully compliment the Herefordshire village’s "existing vernacular while offering thermal efficiencies and utilising the lowest carbon outlay construction method".

The developer has said it has "carefully considered" the surrounding outdoor areas, with planting and green open spaces to create wildlife corridors and buffer zones, as well as support the local environment's biodiversity.

The site will also include wildlife homes such as hedgehog houses, built-in bat boxes, and a sustainable drainage system.

Hayley Coombs, sales and operations director at Freeman Homes said the firm is pleased that work has commenced on the site this week.

“New developments in Fownhope are a rarity, and the Three Willows offers our customers a genuinely unique, exclusive opportunity to right-size their homes

“Once our children have left home we no longer need lots of bedrooms, but we still need space and lots of natural light to enhance our wellbeing.

“Customers moving to the Three Willows will be freeing up the highly desirable older properties in the village and surrounding areas for young families to move into and enjoy for years to come whilst actively reducing their carbon footprint.”
