A MAN has been taken to hospital after a cyclist was hit by a car in Hereford.

The incident happened in Holmer Road around 9.15am yesterday morning (October 10). A cyclist was hit by a car, with an ambulance being called.

The ambulance service said that one man was taken to hospital. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) did not confirm whether or not the patient was the cyclist.

A spokesperson for WMAS said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Holmer Road, Hereford, at 9.16am. On arrival, crews discovered a car and a cyclist had been involved in a collision. One male patient was taken to Hereford County Hospital."

Holmer Road is a busy main road in the north of the city. It is part of the A49 which runs through Herefordshire. Traffic problems were reported on Google Maps yesterday morning around the time of the crash, with long queues in the Holmer area. 

Neither Google Maps nor traffic monitoring site Inrix were sharing information on the incident at the time.
