Bromyard’s Conquest Theatre is bringing an energetic, lively, and family-friendly performance to the town this October, with Shrek the Musical set to be one of their most ambitious shows to date.

Opening on October 25, the musical aims to bring together an audience of all ages from the town and the surrounding area. The production will see everyone's favourite ogre return for a "hilarious stage spectacle" based on the box office hit.

With the cast and crew ranging from eight to 80, the volunteer-run charity is fulfilling its mission of bringing live theatre to north Herefordshire, with seven performances across six days this autumn.

The tale will bring together the beloved characters from the film onto the stage, give them a burst of life- and prove there's more to the story than meets the ears.

The musical will be one of the theatre's most ambitious shows and will welcome more than 30 characters, with an incredible 80 costumes, and a barrage of complicated makeup.

The musical will see new intelligent LED lighting fixtures used for the first time in the market town theatre, with the new state-of-the-art lighting a major update to the venue's infrastructure.

Thanks to funding from the UK Shared Prosperity fund, this will enhance the experience for our audience and performers, with two new sets of stage curtains also included in the upgrade programme.

Shrek the Musical, which will run until November 2, boasts a talented cast, fantastic costumes, a fabulous set, lively music and eye-catching choreography - this show is irreverently fun for the whole family,

Lisa Legge, who is making her directing debut after years of performance said she had grown up watching the films, and is excited to be able to bring the show to life.

“I have really enjoyed every minute of putting this show together, despite the various challenges, responsibilities and unknowns to me. It’s been a huge learning curve, but one that I have thoroughly enjoyed.

We have a wonderful diverse cast, ranging from eight years old, all from different walks of life and everyone has come together and worked very hard to put on this wonderful show."
