DISRUPTION is expected this weekend to a major Hereford rail line, with passenger facing cancellations and uncertain travel conditions once again.

West Midlands Railway, who operate services from Hereford through Ledbury and Colwall to Worcester and Birmingham, announced today (October 11) that trains between Hereford and Worcester are "likely to be impacted this weekend".

The rail company said that due to a shortage of train crew, the line will be disrupted, and is expected to be busier than usual.

The company added that rail replacement buses will be available should services be cancelled. However, passengers are asked to note that the capacity onboard will be limited compared to trains and journey times extended.

In September, cancellations and delays to the West Midlands service left college students stranded at the station, with a local MP stepping in.

West Worcestershire MP, Dame Harriett Baldwin, previously wrote to the managing director of the rail operator and shared her immediate concerns with the Department for Transport.

The last-minute cancellations left many of the MP's constituents unable to travel between Hereford and Worcester and Hereford Sixth Form College.
