A FAMILY-RUN Herefordshire business is celebrating after taking home a top award.

The Salt family, owners of Hay Wines in Ledbury High Street, were named Family Business of the Year at the Herefordshire Business Awards 2024 ceremony over the weekend. The awards celebrate the achievements of independent businesses across the county.

With several hundred people in attendance, Hay Wines managing director Jane Salt received the award with her husband Chris.

Mrs Salt said: “We’re so proud to have won this award. The notion of family really is at the core of everything we’re about and that’s why we represent as many small family run vineyards and distilleries as we can”.

Judges selected the winning businesses in each category based on their commitment to environmental sustainability, creative entrepreneurship, empowerment of young people entering the field, supporting and acting on new ideas, great atmosphere for staff and customers and commitment to local community. Hay Wines excelled in all criteria.
