ARE you looking for some spooky Halloween fun in Herefordshire?

Well, look no further! Visit Herefordshire has put together a fantastic list of events and activities taking place over October half term, including some extremely spooky experiences to celebrate Halloween.

Here is just a selection of what’s on offer across the county:

Broomstick agility races and a paranormal investigator trail at Croft Castle near Leominster

Challenge friends and family to a broomstick agility race, or take on the paranormal investigator trail hunting for ghosts this half term at Croft Castle near Leominster in Herefordshire. These seasonal events are included in the admission price. Free for National Trust members and family tickets for £37.50 (adults £15, children £7.50).

The Night Maze at the Pumpkin Patch, Hereford

Do you dare enter the Night Maze? Coming this season at The Pumpkin Patch, Hereford, the maze awaits for those brave enough to enter. Find your way through an intricate labyrinth armed with just a torch. There may be a few jump scares along the way, so you’ll need to keep your wits about you! Opening Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from October 10 from 6pm to 9pm. All under 18s need to be accompanied by an adult. Not recommended for under 10s. Tickets are £5 per person but the minimum group size for each slot is four people. Maximum group size per slot is eight.

Hideous Histories Trails

Get to know the ‘dark’ side of Herefordshire by exploring one of four different self-guided family adventures. Find ruined castles, spooky caves, and centuries of bloody deeds, ghastly ghosts and fearsome folklore! Visit Herefordshire’s Hideous Histories Trails is free to download, bringing history to life for kids aged six to 12 years, with plenty of fun for younger siblings to enjoy too. Exploring Key Stage two and three curriculum topics as you entertain the family with nature craft activities and treasure hunts.

Half-term fun at Drovers Rest with a spooktacular Halloween Herefordshire feast

Drovers Rest is a 16th century organic farm near the book town of Hay-on-Wye. As well as their regular farm visits, the owners are inviting visitors to eat, drink, dress up and be scary at their Halloween Herefordshire Feast on November 2 in the heated barn. Look out for skeletons and skulls, a witch or two and zombies. Fun games and activities, including a Halloween movie, will keep the family entertained too. £45 for adults. £25 for kids.

Eastnor Castle bewitched Halloween trail

Visitors to Eastnor Castle just outside Ledbury are in for a treat at half term, as they follow the Halloween trail around the grounds and discover what lies behind the creaky doors of the ‘cackling castle’!

Tickets must be pre-booked and the trail will be open between Sunday, October 27 to Thursday, October 31. Find the hidden witch names and venture through the castle where some eerie delights await, as well as having the chance to enjoy the usual attractions. £14 for adults and £8 for kids.

Halloween Fun at Goodrich Castle

Gather your little monsters for a ghoulishly good day out at Goodrich Castle near Ross-on-Wye this half term. Follow the quest to solve creepy clues and gather round to listen to spooky stories.

Follow Dennis, Gnasher and friends to solve creepy clues on the fun family quest around the grounds. Then, meet castle storytellers to hear tall tales of the strange, the supernatural and the downright silly. Hear about the legend of Halloween, the book of the dead and have some frightful fun along the way.

Free for English Heritage members. Adults cost from £8.60 and children from £5. Takes place between October 26 and November 3.

 Pumpkin Picking and Spooktacular Fun at Pumpkin Pete’s

This year Pumpkin Pete’s near Ledbury is going even bigger and better on the Halloween front. They’ve planted over 20 varieties of pumpkins and gourdes and have extended their themed weekends, so more people than ever can enjoy their patch of gorgeous Herefordshire countryside. There is a circus event on October 19 and 20. £15 a car. Over half term week itself from October 26 there will be the chance to see some ‘spooktacular’ animals with food being served from The Grub Shed and Busy Lizzie’s Pizza. £8 a car.

Newton Court Orchard pumpkin hunt

Over half term visitors to Newton Court Cider, near Leominster, can take part in their fantastic orchard pumpkin hunt. Follow clues to find the hidden pumpkins decorated with a letter and unscramble them to find the mystery word and claim your reward. There’s a little prize for all orchard detectives who work out the mystery word. Taking place from 9am to 4.30pm (aside from Sunday which is until 3.30pm) between October 26 and November 3.

Hereford Folklore Fantasia at Queenswood Country Park and Arboretum

Join Cath, Mel and Zoe from Tangled Tales on a journey into folklore from Herefordshire and beyond. Discover fascinating folklore of the autumn fruit and wildlife in the gardens, woodlands and orchards at Queenswood. Get cosy around the woodland fire pit and hear stories of local legends and curious creatures. Delve into the intriguing world of medieval medicine with a quiz. £15 per person on October 28.
