Drivers travelling via a Hereford road earlier today faced slightly lengthier journeys, after a tractor crashed into a hedge.

The B4224 which runs between Fownhope and Sollers Hope, was partially blocked in both directions after the incident.

A spokesperson for West Mercia police said that officers were called shortly after 1pm, to reports that a tractor had collided with a nearby hedge.

Despite the road being blocked for some time, the accident has now cleared and the road is passable.

The B4224 will see more delays coming at the end of this month, with the road closed from Fiddlers Green to The Moors, according to a notice of intention to make a temporary road closure order published by Herefordshire Council.

The closure is required due to drainage works and the likelihood of danger to the public while works are taking place, the notice said.

It will come into force on October 28, but drivers need not panic, as the works are expected to be completed within four nights.

A diversion will be in place via the B4224, A438, A4172, A449, and B4224 and vice versa.

The B4224 was previously closed for more than 12 months after suffering major damage during Storm Dennis in February 2020, when it collapsed in two places.

The damage left the road closed between Fiddler’s Green and Fownhope.
