A Leominster business is to close its shop in the market town, after a decline in footfall.

Spencer-Brookes Design, which has been in West Street for thirteen years, announced today that it will close after recent road works and improvements in the town have caused a "massive drop" in customers.

Charlotte Bordewey, one of the owners of the laser-cut shapes supplier, said that the shop would now be moving to online retail only, in a bid to "save the business" by getting rid of the costs and overheads that come with the site.

Ms Bordewey feared that other shops in the area had also been affected by the recent redevelopment of market town's High Street, adding that she thinks "Leominster will be a very different landscape after Christmas."

The design shop will bid farewell to its loyal customers at the end of November, with Ms Bordewey adding that footfall in Leominster has "plummeted" due to the recent works, and it is now their only option to close at the end of November.

The market town has seen months of disruption, with work beginning in May. Some major projects include enhanced surfacing, improving paving, wider pavements and raised tables at the major junctions, to make it safer and more accessible for pedestrians. Considerable work has also been carried out in Corn Square.

Corn Street is due to reopen mid-November, while work to refurbish the paving and resurface the road and parking area in Corn Square is due to be completed at the end of November.
