A HEREFORDSHIRE road is closed this evening (October 19) after a tree fell and hit a telegraph pole, causing it to snap.
As of 5.45pm, Metcalfe Close in Ross-on-Wye was closed with Acer Tree Services working to remove the tree and debris.
The tree had been blocking the road, which leads to the entrance to Ross-on-Wye rowing club.
According to a witness, no one was injured when the tree fell and no property was damaged, apart from a telegraph pole that was struck when the tree fell.

This evening, Acer Tree Services have blocked off the street to allow tree surgeons to work, with signs and tape stopping people and vehicles from entering.
When the Hereford Times went to the scene at 5.45pm, it appeared that the works were almost complete, with most of the tree going in the chipper.
Herefordshire Council, National Grid and Openreach have been approached for comment on the incident and the damage to the telegraph pole.
